🌱 Content overload
More content is being generated than ever - not even considering all the bot and AI slop. I don't think we were ever meant to digest this all.
In a void of endless options, how do you make decisions? I've seen a lot of posts this year about taste, and how taste is the differentiating factor. From what we buy to what we watch, read or listen to, there's more content than we could ever consume. Each day, our cognitive capacity is overwhelmed, before we've even processed a single thing. So, are our choices simply the easiest option, or are they truly what we want?
Think about the influence of marketing and algorithm-led discovery adding more options and possibilities, as well as the different ways considerations that come with each option.
Some questions I want to explore
- Does volume of content generation proportionately impact the scale of outcome?
- How does engagement on social media platforms translate to viewer/business value?
- How do I decide what is worth my time or attention when cost of generation is low but cost of attention is at an all-time high?
- How has my digital consumption pattern changed over time?
- What drew our obsession to metrics?
